This Privacy Notice explains how Wider uses the personal data you submit through the contact form on wider.ai.

When you submit the contact form, we collect the information you provide:

  • Full name
  • Job title
  • Organisation
  • Email address
  • Subject/category of enquiry
  • Message content

We also process limited technical data needed to operate and secure the form, such as anti-spam or server log information, where applicable.

3. Why we use your data

We use your data to:

  • respond to your enquiry;
  • route your message to the appropriate Wider team;
  • manage requests relating to products, services, partnerships, tech/data partnerships, expertise, investment, or media/press matters;
  • keep a record of business communications;
  • protect the website and contact form against spam, abuse, and security incidents.

4. Legal basis

Depending on the nature of your enquiry, we rely on:

  • Article 6(1)(f) GDPR – legitimate interests, namely our interest in receiving, managing, and responding to incoming business enquiries efficiently and securely; and/or
  • Article 6(1)(b) GDPR – steps at your request prior to entering into a contract, where your enquiry relates to a potential commercial relationship, service request, or product discussion.

Where processing is based on legitimate interests, we consider that people using a business contact form reasonably expect us to use their details to reply and handle their request. The EDPB states that legitimate interest under Article 6(1)(f) requires a legitimate interest, necessity, and a balancing exercise.

5. Is providing the data mandatory?

Fields marked as mandatory are required for us to process and respond to your request. If you do not provide the required information, we may be unable to handle your enquiry properly.

6. Who receives your data

Your data is shared only with people and service providers who need it to handle your enquiry, including:

  • relevant Wider staff responsible for responding to your request;
  • website hosting and infrastructure providers;
  • email or form delivery providers;
  • CRM or customer communication tools, where used to manage business enquiries;
  • professional advisers or competent authorities where required by law or necessary to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.

We do not sell your personal data.

7. International transfers

We aim to process your data within the European Economic Area.

Where one of our service providers processes personal data outside the EEA, we ensure that an appropriate safeguard is in place, such as an adequacy decision or the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.

8. How long we keep your data

We keep contact form data only for as long as necessary to handle your enquiry and any related follow-up.

Unless a longer retention period is required to comply with legal obligations or to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims, we retain contact form submissions for up to 24 months after the last meaningful contact relating to your enquiry. After that period, the data is deleted or securely anonymised.

9. Your rights

Subject to the conditions in the GDPR, you have the right to:

  • request access to your personal data;
  • request rectification of inaccurate or incomplete data;
  • request erasure of your data;
  • request restriction of processing;
  • object to processing based on legitimate interests;
  • request portability where applicable.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Since the site appears to be operated from France, the relevant authority may be the CNIL. The European Commission notes that individuals must be informed of their rights and of their right to complain to a data protection authority when their data is collected.

10. Automated decision-making

We do not use the contact form data to make automated decisions producing legal or similarly significant effects about you.
